Performance Opportunities

Each season students have several performance opportunities, including:

Center Showings: These in studio performances are held in December and May. Center Showings give family members and friends an opportunity to view the dancers in a class-based setting to demonstrate technical goals and objectives.

Spring Showcase: DEC’s annual show gives all students an opportunity to perform dance pieces that reflect their discipline and skill level. The combination of choreography, music, and costume creates a performance experience unique to DEC. Proceeds from the Spring Showcase benefit local charities.

Spring Spotlight: The Spring Spotlightis an evening length dance event featuring challenging, innovative choreography, evocative music, unique themes, and solo and ensemble pieces. Previous Showcase events have featured live music, improvisation, intricate set décor and guest choreographers and artists. Spotlight participation is for students age 7 and up and select roles are by audition only. Like the Spring Showcase, proceed from the Spotlight benefit local charities.

Outreach programs: At least once a year DEC participates in outreach programs, bringing dance performances to alternative settings. DEC has performed at Martin Luther King Day observances, elderly care facilities, schools and other venues. If you are interested in having DEC students perform at your event, please contact Tori.

Performance Groups: DEC also offers Performance Groups, which meet in addition to regular technique class and focus on working in a professional-dance-company setting. Performance Groups in various disciplines are offered and are featured in the annual Spring Spotlight and special community performances.
