History

DEC was founded in 2001 by Nicole Tori Rogoski with the goal of providing a positive dance-education experience for dancers and families, while giving back to the community through DEC’s annual performance weekend. From the beginning, DEC has sought to build traditions of hard work, support for others, and determination, all grounded in the school’s mantra – “never surrender your dreams.”

In 2007, DEC suffered a devastating fire, which forced the school to move to a temporary location. Through the experience, dancers and families bonded together to further emphasize the school’s sense of family. In 2009, DEC opened the doors to its current state-of-the-art facility built specifically for dance.

The traditions continue today, and since its first performance weekend, DEC’s family has donated more than $80,000 to local community organizations. Dance training is challenging work, but the support of faculty, family and friends provide a positive platform to never surrender your dreams.
